Maker Faire Day 2

Marty and I arrived at Maker Faire a little while ago and decided we should post a blog entry about how things were going.  So far, we have seen a lot of really creative stuff on display here.  It amazes me that people have so much creativity and are able to express it in a variety of different media.  Here are a few things I found to be truly unique:

These are just a few of the interesting things we have seen here since we arrived.  From the Microsoft perspective, there is a lot of interesting demonstrations of Popfly, XNA, XBox, Virtual Earth, Windows Live Gallery, and of course... Windows Live Spaces!  The building where we are showing off Spaces is also home to some robotic demonstrations as well, including an air powered Rum and Coke machine.  Yesterday, the we were visited by Jimmy Kimmel of TV fame.  Apparently, the XNA, XBOX and robotics were interesting to him and are likely to appear on his late night show given that the TV cameras were also present.  I considered trying to give him the coveted Viva Pinata T-shirt that Marty and I are giving out, but was concerned about appearing to be "that guy" who wants the famous TV guy to shamelessly plug our service.  Nevertheless, we have been talking to a lot of other people about the coolness of Spaces and the benefits of having a Space, where they can personally express themselves to the world, or just their closest friends.

Stay tuned for more updates...

Here we are

John and I are at Maker Faire today. What an amazing fair! There are tons of people showing unbelievable contraptions. We love the pen car guy and the huge finger picker. Yes, that's right. Anything you can think of and lots of things you've never in your life thought of are here. The creativity is inspiring. Microsoft has a room where visitors can experiment with Coding4Fun, Windows Home Server, XNA and even take part in 30 minute demo classes to learn how to program. Lot's more to come.
